No less than NASA has said that rebounding is “the most efficient and effective exercise yet devised by man”. It’s fun, it’s easy, and doesn’t require great skill or coordination, and you can do it at home listening to music or watching TV! Anyone can use rebounders. We know teenagers who use them to their own music program, and a ninety-plus year old who swears by it for her vitality.
What’s rebounding? It is...
Quite simply… bouncing on a mini trampoline. But unlike regular trampolining, the aim isn’t to bounce high or perform gymnastic tricks, but to perform a series of small, controlled movements, in single steps or both-feet bounces.
Its benefits...
A zero-impact, indoor exercise, rebounding provides many benefits:
- Improved circulation
- Increased heart and lung capacity
- Lowered cholesterol levels
- Improved coordination and balance
- Reduced stress and tension
- Improved muscle tone (particularly legs, thighs, hips, abdomen and arms)
- Increased energy and vitality
- Boosted lymphatic and immune system
- No strain on the joints
- The rebounder itself is unobtrusive and is easily stored
Buying a rebounder
It's the old adage – you get what you pay for... inexpensive models can be stiff and don’t offer adequate cushioning and support.
Invest in a quality rebounder, which boasts:
- A stable 6-leg design – cheaper 4-leg models are known to topple over
- Unscrewable legs – for easy storage
- A solid spring system – to ensure adequate support for your joints
- A non-slip mat – for those trickier manoeuvres
